Severe storm in Wittenburg: eggbox production resumes next day thanks to outstanding team effort
In mid-July 2026, a severe storm with hail stones the size of tennis balls swept across Western Mecklenburg, causing substantial damage to regional infrastructure, buildings, and vehicles. Our production site in Wittenburg was also affected by the weather extreme. However, thanks to the swift response of our employees’, operations were resumed within the shortest possible time.
Hail damage to the production hall and vehicles
The severe hail damaged several windows in our production hall, creating an immediate risk of water entering the manufacturing area. In addition, almost all employees vehicles parked on the factory premises during the shift sustained heavy hail damage.
Swift on-site response
Immediately after the storm had passed, our team stepped up. To protect the production hall and the machinery from consequential damage, our employees immediately installed temporary seals on the affected roof areas. Thanks to this combined team effort, all production equipment was fully restarted the very next day. Despite the challenging circumstances, there were no prolonged downtime periods in the manufacture of our egg packaging: all customer orders were produced and delivered on schedule.
We thank our team for their great support, prudent actions, and extraordinary dedication during this emergency.
