The idea of engineer and tinkerer Hartwig Chamier von Glyzszinski gave rise to a new type of egg packaging made of corrugated cardboard – the eggbox. With three machines designed by him, our company – eggbox GmbH – settled in Wittenburg, in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, in early 2010.
Since then we have been growing steadily. In order to be able to meet the increasing demand also in the future, our machinery has meanwhile grown to a total of 15 production lines, which produce the eggbox in the formats 10s, double-6s and double-4s.
And also our team increased from four in the beginning to now 22 employees, who work on the production, the distribution and the continuous improvement of the eggbox and our company. Because innovation is important to us and so in 2018 we added a new variant of the eggbox double 6s with a viewing window, mainly used to pack colored eggs. From the end of 2021, the double 4 and 10 formats will also be available in this version.
The individual design possibilities, the high recognition value and last but not least the sustainability of our product convince an increasing number of customers far beyond the borders of Germany, so that today egg producers from Denmark to Italy to Greece are happy about eggboxes.

MADE IN GERMANY
Regionality is close to our hearts. The eggbox is manufactured exclusively at our production site in Wittenburg.
eggbox – for the environment
The conviction that we can only achieve sustainable success through sustainable management has accompanied us since the company was founded.
Green electricity
We only use electricity from Green Planet Energy which comes 100% from hydro and wind energy. In 2020, we installed a photovoltaic system on a roof area of more than 2000 m2. This green electricity produced at the company’s own site will be used for production in the future.
The eggbox – 100% recyclable
The corrugated cardboard from which our eggboxes are made is a 100% recycled product and can be recycled several times. Natural starch glue and mineral oil-free printing inks are used in production. Already since 2011 we offer the eggbox also made of FSC® certified material.
Climate protection partner of plant-my-tree
But the fact that the operation of our machines is CO2-neutral is not enough for us. The CO2 emissions generated during the transport of your eggbox are compensated. This is ensured by trees that we plant in cooperation with plant-my-tree plant. You can learn more about this project here.
